Any fitness equipment can only work safely up to a certain weight, but for treadmills this limit is especially critical. The problem that treadmills have in the use of severely overweight people is obvious: the weight limit. The best treadmill for overweight - what matters? However, treadmill running for overweight is not completely out of the question if you pay attention to the right treadmill. Accordingly, overweight people should be particularly careful when running fast on the treadmill. The mechanical structure of the treadmill makes it even harder than running on the street. The main reason for this is the heavy load on the joints, which have to absorb every step. Make sure you use the one you're going to buy before you make your purchase.Training on the treadmill is actually not recommended for people who are overweight - at least for those who are very overweight. But that's just from reading the specs, I've never seen either in person. That and the deck/belt not performing properly because they'll deform quicker.Ä«etweel the two treadmills you listed, I'd go with the Epic model just because it's got a bigger motor and seems to be a heavier duty unit. The motor was hugely affected and that is the more likely thing that will happen. I once owned a treadmill that read 6.0 mph but I could walk on it at that speed. If it does have a long life it will become unreliable. However it won't have a long life if you use it regularly. If you're 325 and get on a treadmill that is rated for 300, it's not going to fall apart the moment you step on it. The upper end treadmills (ie Precor, Life Fitness) usually stated no limit. When I was selling equipment only the mid to lower end treadmills had weight limits. Though motors tend to not be as much a problem these days as they are made much better. Each company creates one based on the shock absorbtion, deck system, motor, incline lift, etc.
